This book provides guidance and resources for a curriculum for high school students enrolled in an elective English course for library aides. Lessons reinforce specific skills and self-assessment strategies from the AASL Standards for 21st-Century Learners. The lessons can also be used for whole-class instruction. The lessons cover shelving Dewey style, Internet searching, ethical issues and copyright, and participating in a democratic society. A long-term information literacy project focuses on information search and retrieval in research, allowing students to select a topic of their own choice and create their own step-by-step guidelines to guide other students through the research process. A subsequent lesson takes the student's project online. Numerous reproducible rubrics, lesson plans, and student worksheets are provided, along with a school-year calendar with recommended timelines.
