Make a big impact at your school board meeting. (CD-ROM included)
DelGuidice, Margaux and Rose Luna.
DelGuidice, a school and children's services librarian who teaches academic writing and research at St. Joseph's College, and Luna, a school and bilingual reference librarian, show K-12 librarians how to promote their library at the school board meeting. They explain how to develop a strong relationship with the community and build library support, and detail aspects of the school board and its members, and cultivating a relationship with the principal, superintendent, teachers, staff, student and parent volunteers, and community members, as well as collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and public librarians. They describe public relations, getting on the school board agenda, planning and creating a presentation, follow-up, and using Web 2.0 tools for promotion. The accompanying CD includes the appendices, which contain a generic school board presentation, reports, agendas, minutes, forms, flyers, memos, checklists, and other resources.
